How Does It Work?
septembre 4th, 2009 by admin

How is your money used?

The local schools benefit directly from your participation and presence.  We promote and strengthen the educational infrastructures of the country.
A portion of the money goes to the administration process:  web managing, information sessions, fundraising programs …

A bigger portion of the money goes to the homestay families.  Another goes directly to the schools in order to increase the quality of their infrastructures.  A portion goes to the purchase of school material.

Travel routes

Once in Bolivia, you’ll have your week-ends free.  Most people decide to go travelling.  In fact, Bolivia is a very beautiful country and there is a wide-range of sceneries that you can enjoy.

The favorite spots are:

- Camina de la muerte / CoroÔco
- Salar de Uyuni
- Amazonian jungle (Rurenabake, Santa Cruz, Trinidad)
- Lake Titicaca (Copacabana)

You will be responsible for planning these trips.  However we can suggest you travel agencies.

Recycling is yet a recent concept in South America.  The Amazonian forest is still under attack by big companies and pollution is a growing public health issue.  Even though recycling factories exist in Bolivia, not enough emphasis is put on the utility and the purpose of it. The infrastructures are also not yet as developped as in our countries.  The younger we teach the children, the more efficient the results are.We need to recruit teachers that will initiate them and go through some educational material and mini-projects.
The advantageous part of this program is that while educating the children, we educate the parents.  In fact, the children are very happy to learn new things and love to tell their parents.  Unfortunately, many of these children are orphans, but the knowledge is still passed around.  A change in people’s behaviour is very hard to initiate, but its importance is priceless.  We are all part of one world and if one part does not function properly, it’s the whole world that is dysfunctional.  Therefore, reducing pollution and waste in South America is directly one of our duties.
Another aspect of this project is to encourage local recycling actions.  The teachers will supervise and help the children make projects that will help their environment.  We will teach them how materials are transformed and how from daily used materials, they can make things with other purposes.
