Bolivia is one of South America’s poorest countries. With its nearly 9 million people, from which 1 million in the capital city, its economy mainly depends of raw materials such as wood and minerals.
La Paz is the country’s capital, even if it’s presently discussed amongst Bolivians. 70 percent of the population is indigenous and a third lives in a rural area.
Even if access to education is free and mandatory from age 5 to 18, only about half the children finish primary school and less than the third enter a secondary school.
Unfortunately, the schools lack of pedagogic material and some of them are falling apart.
